Taekwondo! Yay!

On the 26th of Feb, Adsett class made their way to the hall to attend their very first lesson of the year in Taekwondo.

We were very lucky to have the instructor back at our school. Few students recognized her as she was their instructor when they were juniors. Students learnt how to throw fists in the air; as they did that they made a sound. It sounded like a snake "Sssssssssssssss", they made this sound every time they threw a punch. Later the instructor corrected the students that the sound should be a fast "SOUP". I found this very interesting.

Here are some pictures of our sessions.

Welcome to 2021!

Welcome back to 2021!

This is our first post of the year.

Welcome to all our new students who have joined the Adsett class, we look forward to a fun and exciting year.

This year our digital learning class will be called Adsett Class. We have been named after an artist called Dr Sandy Adsett. He is a revered New Zealand artist and painter with experience in carving, weaving, costume and stage design. His immense career in Māori visual arts and education has seen him train many of Aotearoa’s celebrated Māori artists. You will find his work across Aotearoa in many places such as art museums, churches and government venues.

Soy Candles

 Kia Ora Bloggers,

Today we had so much fun creating our own soy candles. This year we have been focusing on our well-being and thinking of ways to look after ourself and emotions. One of the ways is creating an environment or atmosphere where it's calming and soothing.

In our class, we have bunches of lavender which are hung near the window to dry. This creates a nice look for our room and a beautiful scent.

As part of our learning, we decided to learn about states of matter and create our very own lavender scented soy candles. Followed by procedural writing. Our workshop included maths - as we had to measure, weigh and check the temp. Science to see how the wax changed its form and how to mix the fragrance and a whole lot more. Next time we will use to lavender petals as an extra touch to the tealight candles.

Thanks to Ecolyte (Isha) for organising our candle making equipment and freebies <3.

Check out our student blogs and leave a comment.

Fantasic Similes

 Kia Ora bloggers!

Today was really fun as we allowed our creative juices to flow and come up with our own simile examples. We used Google forms to display our similes and we pasted a picture related to the simile.

Here is what we got up to today! :D

Check out the student blogs to see more examples.

Last day of Term 3

Last day of term 3, the bittersweet feelings!

We were lucky to catch some sun this morning and take a class photo. As part of our end of term celebration of our lovely students 'Sascha' chose mufti as one of her prizes for Hay Parkway. The whole class got an opportunity to dress up in their favourite clothes and watch a movie.

It has been a very interesting term with the lockdown, our class has shown resilience by completing tasks online during distance learning and remembering to have a positive attitude when returning to school.

Stress ball

Hello Bloggers,

In the past few weeks, Lockhart class has been learning about meditation and breathing techniques.

To wrap the week up we made stress balls or squishy balls. This is something you can use when you are thinking or need to distract your mind and be in the present.

Check out the student blogs to see them with their stress ball.
