Making a Wind Turbine

Hi Guys,

This week Feu'u class worked in teams to make their own wind turbines.

Thanks to Genesis Energy for providing us with these wonderful kits.

You can check out this link to make your very own wind turbine.

We worked in groups of five and experimented how fast it could by testing it. We tested it by blowing it and taking it outside and see how fast the wind blew it.

It was quite windy today so for a few of us, out wind turbines were falling apart.

It makes us think how strong the real turbines must be to withstand the strong winds of New Zealand.

If you would like to find out more, you can visit this link to learn about Wind Turbines.

Here are some images of our session.

I really liked the way you gave us a link to teach us how to make a wind turbine.
I learned that when you make it out of card and paper it can break from the wind.
Maybe you could next time tell us what you made it out of.
Have you ever made a wind turbine or was that your first time.
Mā te wā I hope you have a great learning time.
