Wheels day
On Friday, we were so lucky to have Wheels day. On Wheels day, Hay Park school had the opportunity to bring their bikes, skates, scooters and skateboards to school. Safety is always important so we made sure that everyone wore a helmet. As a surprise, Batman arrived at lunch to meet the students and teachers at our school. We got such a surprise, all the children gathered around to meet him and take pictures. What a FUN day!

Diwali at Haypark School
Last week, Haypark celebrated Diwali. Diwali is a hindu celebration, it is the festival of lights.
Feu'u class celebrated this occasion by creating Rangoli on the pavement and making Diwali sweets. One of the sweets we made was Coconut Ladoo. This was a really easy recipe to follow. You need icing sugar 250g, desiccated coconut 500g and condensed milk. Mix all the dry ingredients together and then mix condensed milk until mixture is easy to mould into balls. Using your clean dry hands scoop some of the mix and use your hands to make the balls! Enjoy

Welcome to Term 4 2019!!
A great start to Term 4,
We were invited to join Waipipi School, in Waiuku, for their Agricultural day. Children had the opportunity to experience life in a rural school. Children will saw a range of farm animals and watch the competitions.
We had the opportunity to make connections with new students, teachers and parents. It was a mini road trip as it took us 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach our destination. Some students fell asleep on the way and some children were occupied playing a road trip scavenger hunt! Children were to look around as we travelled to tick of items of the list. First-person to complete the list was the winner.
We got to see lamb, goats and chicken at the school competing.

How to make a movie
Kia ora everyone,
Hope everyone had a wonderful time towards the end of the term.
Feu'u class worked on writing an explanation about how to make a Film. Using their experience to draw upon they wrote an explanation on how to make a Film.

How to make a Film
1. Get into a team.
2. Make a plan.
3. Use a storyboard.
4. Get an ipad.
5. Get onto a photo app.
6. Get some camera angles high shot, low shot, close shot, extreme close up shot, longest shot, long shot.
7. Go to imovie.
8. Finally, go and press the + button and Find a picture or video.

How to make a film
1. First, you get into a group of four ‘three and use an IPad, phone or a computer to get ready to make a movie. Take your ideas from your storyboard and copy it onto the computer. The storyboard is a piece of paper that you used to plan on your scene and you have to hook in the reader. All your ideas are on the storyboard.
2. Next, you use equipment such as money’ tables’ and chairs on your scenes so you know what you need to use for your scene.
3. Then you look at your storyboard and check if it makes sense and you have to plan what your story is about. You add the music on the film and you can list it you have to make music by getting it on the Movie it has a button that says music.
4. You can look at your scene and put the parts that are right for the scene and you have to use your camera angles.
5. Then you practice your scene.
6. After you practice your scene in your setting and when you think you got it you do it in your setting you set up your setting where you are going in each scene.
7. Now you do your scene in your place where you’re setting is.
8. Finally, you watch the whole film together with your group and see if it is good enough to be a Film. then you can see the people in your group at the capitol cinemas. I felt nervous because it was our first time doing it. Finding the music was challenging and the title.

How to make a Film
First, you have to make a team of 4 or 5 for the movie and brainstorm ideas for the film so you can write it on a whiteboard.
Next, you need to decide who is going to be the actors, the person who is holding the camera and the director and you have to choose your genre like sharing, romance, horrify and joyful or gloomy.
After that, you can choose your setting. A setting is a place where you are going to be filming and you also have to make a storyboard. A storyboard is a paper with squares and under it, there are lines that you can write on. The lines that you are writing on, is so you know what to say when you do your scenes. The storyboard does not have to be the same as my class.
When you are doing your film you have to make sure that you have the equipment like your storyboard and props if you need any.
Then you can start doing your scenes and when you are doing your scenes you have to use your camera and storyboard.
When you are finished doing all your scenes, you are going to have to edit and when you are editing you have to put in any voice overs, music, volume, transitions and camera angles, such as point of view, tracking shot and wide shot.
You can also use the full shot, close up, high angle, low angle, overhead shot, long shot, eye-level shot, mid-shot, extreme long shot and extreme close-up.
Now you can watch your movie and see if it looks neat. If you think it is neat, you can send it to the cinemas and you can watch it in the cinemas with some popcorn and a drink, and you can also go to watch your movie with your group if they are free to go watch the movie.

Making a Wind Turbine
Hi Guys,
This week Feu'u class worked in teams to make their own wind turbines.
Thanks to Genesis Energy for providing us with these wonderful kits.

We worked in groups of five and experimented how fast it could by testing it. We tested it by blowing it and taking it outside and see how fast the wind blew it.
It was quite windy today so for a few of us, out wind turbines were falling apart.
It makes us think how strong the real turbines must be to withstand the strong winds of New Zealand.

Spheros and Vr Headsets!!
Kia Ora,
We were so lucky to have the opportunity to have played with Spheros and VR Headset.
With the Sphero's we used the Ipads to control and move them around. We had so much fun. Later in the day, we were assigned to the VR headsets. They were really cool because we were able to visit places in the world. We also dived into the sea to see Sharks. Most students found the Shark video scary because the shark would creep up behind you!
We later wrote a persuasive letter about why we should purchase these amazing tech tools for our school.
I strongly think you should buy the VR and Sphero for Hay Park School because we really enjoyed it. That was the best thing I've ever done. When I used the VR Headset, I felt like being the fluffiest kid in the world. It was like a ball that you can go inside and grapple the hook and you can climb on mountains. You can also learn about different things when we are doing free writing.

I loved to control the Spheros and i also liked using the VR Headsets. I liked using the Spheros because you can change the colour of it and move it around, change how fast it goes. When I came back from Read and Write I saw the Spheros, and I remembered that my brother made one of those Spheros at AUT and he was controlling it from the computer.
When you use the VR Headsets then you can see how good experience you can see because when you put on the VR Headsets then you can choose which place you want to be.
