Diwali at Haypark School

Last week, Haypark celebrated Diwali. Diwali is a hindu celebration, it is the festival of lights.
Feu'u class celebrated this occasion by creating Rangoli on the pavement and making Diwali sweets. One of the sweets we made was Coconut Ladoo. This was a really easy recipe to follow. You need icing sugar 250g, desiccated coconut 500g and condensed milk. Mix all the dry ingredients together and then mix condensed milk until mixture is easy to mould into balls. Using your clean dry hands scoop some of the mix and use your hands to make the balls! Enjoy

Hope you enjoyed reading our blog, here are some pictures from the week.

  1. Kia ora,
it's me Neha here. I really liked it when we did some rangoli patterns outside with chalk and we had spray bottles so we can spray water on them and our rangoli patterns will be dark and stay on the concrete for a while. I also liked it when we made coconut laddoos and we made lots and also we could take it home to gve it to our family.

  2. Kia ora,
My name is Mahrosh. I loved the transitions in the video. The Coconut Ladoo tasted great! They were really simple to make. I also liked the part when we made the rangoli patterns, with the chalk and spray bottle. The spray bottle made the desighn darker and that it could stay on the pavment for a while.

  3. Kia ora,
My name is Neha. I liked the transitions in the video. The Coconut laddoo were really simple to make and they tasted great! My favourite part was to make the rangoli patterns on the pavment. When we were making the rangoli patterns outside we used the chalk and spray bottle. There was only three spray bottles because only three people got spary bottles from home. Our teacher told us to do a outline first and color it with chalk. once we had done that then we could use the spray bottle to go over it with water. The spray bottles had made our design a little bit darker and stay on the pavment for a little while maybe for more than two days.

  4. Kia ora Hay Park School! It's lovely to see you have been posting. We have been super busy with all sorts of things, so we apologise for not having any recent posts on our blog. We really enjoyed learning about Diwali because many of us have never been to a Diwali festival and didn't know anything about it. However, Room 2 here at Makaraka had a Diwali festival a few weeks ago! Making the coconut laddoo sounds like so much fun... we all thought we'd love to try it too! We really enjoyed the photos, maybe you could slow them down a bit so that we could see each of them better.
